About this show
**NonDance Dance β Lecture Performance** *NonDance Dance* is a project that explores movement that artificial intelligence fails to recognize as dance. Choreographers Jeong Jihye and Kang Seongryong, together with media artists Shin Seungback and Kim Yonghun, experiment with how AI perceives the human body and its movement through dance. By examining the gap between how AI recognizes dance and how humans experience it, the project asks: what kinds of dance exist beyond the boundaries of AI perception? In doing so, it uncovers the unique value of dance as a deeply human, thinking practice β precisely in the movements AI cannot see. In this lecture performance, the team approaches the question by first explaining how AI recognizes "actions" and, from there, how it identifies "dance." They then share the movements they have discovered throughout their research. Audience members are invited to follow along and try their own version of *NonDance Dance* β comparing their attempts with what AI itself would call dancing. Together, the performance becomes a space for reflection on the essence of dance, the human body, and the evolving relationship between humans and artificial intelligence.
