# Performance Introduction **Asking, unearthing, burying again — a breath finally released** Described as a "living flame," choreographer Kim Hye-kyung commands the stage with explosive presence. In her first new work in seven years, she revisits a childhood memory of death — rendered through the language of the body. As a child, she carried a dead cat and shaped a small grave with her own hands. Before she could understand what death meant, her body already knew what to do. It was a form of mourning no one had taught her. This work responds to Ahn Eun-me's *Tomb Series* (1998) and marks Kim's declaration of herself as an artist in her own right. Here, the "tomb" is not a place — it is an act, a state of being. In the repeated cycle of burying, unearthing, and covering again, memory does not disappear. It accumulates in the body. At the center of the stage stands an enormous cat, and layered within it are strata of memory. The dancer's body moves through sensations that refuse to fade — pressing forward with the will to live even after confronting fear. What begins as one person's memory slowly spreads into the senses of others, and the stage itself breathes like a living tomb. In the end, the audience arrives at a feeling that will not easily go out — the residue of things lost that somehow still remain within us.
