We gather in the theater and wait. In 180 minutes, a total solar eclipse will begin. A total solar eclipse hasn't been visible in this region for 375 years. For most of us, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime moment. What do we hope for as we wait together? And once we finally see what we've longed for — what will we become? Will we scatter, changed into something different? *Waiting for the Total Solar Eclipse* is not about the eclipse itself, but about the act of waiting for it. You're welcome to lie down, doze off, or scroll through your phone — all you need to do is wait, together. There are those who made this work and those who came to see it, but perhaps we're all in the same position. This performance dissolves that boundary, inviting everyone to create something together. What we see in the theater tonight is something we made — not something made for us, but something we made ourselves, collectively. In this way, we move beyond the theater as a place that simply delivers events to consume. Through chance gestures and quiet encounters, we become a loose, fleeting community.
