Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra: Choi Suyeol Conducts Scriabin Symphony No. 4

Conductor Choi Suyeol, who first connected with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra as associate conductor and has remained a close collaborator ever since, returns to the subscription concert stage for the first time in five years since his 2021 appearance. South African-born Australian pianist Kristian Bezuidenhout joins as soloist to perform Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21. A leading specialist in fortepiano playing and a celebrated Mozart interpreter, Bezuidenhout brings his distinctive artistry to this beloved concerto. Following the collaboration with this period-instrument master, conductor Choi and the SPO leap across the centuries into the 20th and 21st. A newly commissioned work by Lee Hanurij — a young composer born in 2006, receiving its world premiere — will be performed alongside Scriabin's Symphony No. 4, *Le Poème de l'extase*. Though classified as a symphony, the work is closer in spirit to a tone poem, in which Scriabin magnificently channels his yearning for transformation through a richly mystical orchestral sound world. *Program and performers are subject to change.
