About this show
**Act 1 | Shim Cheong, the Devoted Daughter** Shim Bong-sa, a blind man, hears that donating 300 sacks of rice to a temple will restore his sight. He rashly makes the promise, then agonizes over how to fulfill it. His daughter, Shim Cheong, sacrifices herself β selling her body to Chinese merchants for the 300 sacks of rice and throwing herself into the waters of Indangsu. **Act 2 | The Dragon Palace** Shim Cheong sinks to the bottom of the sea, where she learns of her past life and future destiny in the Dragon Palace. She rises back to the surface of Indangsu, cradled within a lotus flower. Merchants discover the floating lotus and present it to the king, who finds Shim Cheong inside and takes her as his queen. **Act 3 | The Banquet of the Blind** Longing to know what has become of her father, Shim Cheong persuades the king to hold a great banquet for the blind. At the gathering, father and daughter are reunited at last β and overcome with joy at finding his daughter alive, Shim Bong-sa opens his eyes and sees for the first time.
