## Roman Kim Violin Recital Russian-born violinist Roman Kim has earned the title "Paganini of the 21st century" for his extraordinary technique and distinctive musical interpretations. Combining explosive energy with refined virtuosity, Kim leaves a powerful impression among his contemporaries — particularly in his masterful handling of Paganini repertoire. A fourth-generation Korean Russian who grew up in a musical family, he trained at the Moscow Central Music School and the Hochschule für Musik Köln under world-renowned masters. Beyond performance, he has expanded his artistry into composition, arrangement, and acoustic experimentation, constantly pushing beyond tradition in search of new sounds. The program opens with Tartini's *Devil's Trill Sonata*, a work demanding superhuman technique and dramatic expression. This is followed by three original compositions by Kim — *Valse pour Ana*, *Cri de l'Âme*, and *Sanctus et Agnus Dei* — each exploring a different musical language. Paganini's *La Campanella* then closes the first half with dazzling brilliance and intensity. The second half begins with Chausson's deeply lyrical *Poème*, followed by Kim's own *Romance in B Major*, *Romance in G♭ Major*, and *I Brindisi*. The evening concludes with Mozart's *Eine kleine Nachtmusik* in a special arrangement by Roman Kim himself. Traditional violin masterworks, original compositions, and imaginative arrangements come together to reveal the full depth of Kim's artistic world — one that offers audiences a bold new vision of what the violin can be. --- **PROGRAM** G.
