About this show
**Kandinsky and the Russian Painters** Inspired by the artistic legacy of Wassily Kandinsky, the pioneer of Russian abstract art, this concert brings together music and visual art under the title *Kandinsky and the Russian Painters*. The program is performed by a three-generation family ensemble β pianist Irina Kandinsky, violinist Anna Kandinsky, and violinist Hanna Kandinsky β tracing a remarkable artistic lineage passed down through the generations. The program opens with Tchaikovsky's *MΓ©ditation*, a work of quiet introspection and lyrical depth. Stravinsky's *Divertimento* from *The Fairy's Kiss* follows, showcasing the rhythmic vitality and structural wit of 20th-century music. Moszkowski's *Suite for Two Violins and Piano in G Minor* then reveals the rich colors and lyricism of Russian chamber music. Shostakovich's *Five Pieces for Two Violins and Piano* (selections) offers a distinctive musical language where humor, irony, and inner tension intertwine. The concert concludes with Glazunov's *Grande Adagio*, capturing the essence of Russian Romanticism through its sweeping, deeply expressive melody. Adding a unique dimension to the evening, art historian and writer Dong-seop Lee will provide commentary throughout the performance, exploring how the world of Russian painting β centered on Kandinsky β connects and resonates with the music on stage. Music, visual art, and three generations of artistic heritage converge into a single, living narrative. *Program is subject to change at the organizer's discretion.*
