Ariel, a little mermaid who has always dreamed of life on land, rescues Prince Eric from a deadly storm one day. However, Eric never sees her face and only remembers her beautiful voice before they part ways. When Ariel returns to the underwater kingdom, she is punished and imprisoned by her father, King Triton, who despises humans. Seizing the opportunity, Ursula — the sea witch and King Triton's enemy — lures Ariel into a deal: human legs in exchange for her voice. Ursula then disguises herself as a princess using Ariel's stolen voice and heads to land. Since Eric only remembers the voice of the girl who saved him, he mistakes the disguised Ursula for her and promises to marry her. Will Ariel ever win Eric's heart and find her true love?
