## The Geometry of Music II: NOTATION Piano Recital by Lee Yeokyung Pianist Lee Yeokyung presents her solo recital *The Geometry of Music II: NOTATION* on August 12 at Kumho Art Hall Yonsei. This ongoing project explores music through a geometric lens — just as geometry connects points, lines, and planes, music builds its world through the organic interplay of notes, rhythm, and harmony. Following the first edition in 2024, which examined musical *Transformation*, this new chapter turns to **Notation** — the act of inscription. The program investigates how composers encoded their inspirations, emotions, and inner worlds into written score, and how those marks become sound. Each work reflects a distinct way of capturing reality on the page: Ligeti etches the process of sound becoming structure through open-string motifs and repeating patterns; Chopin transcribes the rocking motion of water into rhythm and melody; the Bach/Busoni Chaconne constructs an architectural monument from a single, obsessively developed motif; and Mussorgsky translates vivid visual scenes directly into music. Through decoding and performing these notated traces, Lee Yeokyung invites audiences to encounter music in a new way — discovering the boundless possibilities hidden within carefully designed structure. --- **Program** - G.
