About this show
This concert marks the inaugural performance of *Omnium*, a collective of Korean traditional music composers. Rooted in the memories and records of the past, Omnium seeks to engage with the present and future β and takes its first step with the theme of traditional Korean *nori* (play). The performance expands the concept of *nori* into musical action and structure, translating various layers of Korean musical culture into compositional form. This includes the symbolic meanings embedded in traditional games, the spirit of *pungnyu* (refined musical interplay between instruments), and communal musical traditions such as *gut* (shamanistic ritual music) and *nongak* (farmers' music) β all rooted in joy and play. The aim is to propose new creative possibilities drawn from the elements of tradition. Furthermore, through Omnium's distinctive approach β where composers themselves lead the planning and structure of performances β the concert seeks to explore the artistic potential for creators to think and express themselves with greater freedom.
