The F-2 visa is a long-term residency visa that gives foreigners significantly more freedom than work visas. F-2 holders can work in almost any field without employer sponsorship, making it one of the most sought-after visas for long-term residents of Korea.

Who Qualifies?
There are several pathways to the F-2 visa:
Points-based system (F-2-7) β Foreigners who accumulate enough points based on age, education, income, Korean language ability, and years of residency
Spouses and children of Korean nationals β Married to a Korean citizen
Spouses and children of F-5 permanent residents
Long-term E-visa holders β E-1 through E-7 visa holders who have lived in Korea for 5+ years continuously
Investors β Foreigners who have invested a minimum of 300,000,000 KRW in Korea
Distinguished talent β Scientists, athletes, artists recognized by the Korean government
Points-Based System (F-2-7)
The most common pathway for skilled workers. You need a minimum of 80 points out of 120 to qualify.
Age (μ΅λ 20μ ) β Ages 25β29 receive the maximum 20 points. Points decrease with age.
Education (μ΅λ 35μ ) β PhD: 35 points, Master's: 30 points, Bachelor's: 25 points
Income (μ΅λ 20μ ) β Based on annual income relative to Korean average wage
Korean language (μ΅λ 20μ ) β TOPIK Level 6: 20 points, Level 5: 18 points, Level 4: 14 points
Years in Korea (μ΅λ 15μ ) β 5+ years: 15 points, 4 years: 12 points, 3 years: 9 points
